The National Youth Court Center will be conducting three regional/national training seminars. Each seminar will consist of a new program track for jurisdictions interested in establishing youth court programs and an advanced program track for existing youth courts that want to enhance their knowledge and skills. Registration brochures will be mailed to individuals in the NYCC database by mid-March. You can also register online at www.youthcourt.net. Seminars will be held in:
KY Teen Court Conference On March 5, 2004, the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts will conduct the 7th Annual Kentucky Teen Court Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The conference will be held at the Executive Inn of Louisville. This year's focus is on the Role of the Court. For more information contact Robin Winkfield or Karen Blackwell at 1-800-928-2350. The Director of the National Youth Court Center will be presenting a session on how youth courts operate nationally during the conference. NHTSA Lifesavers Conference

Funding Information The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention published a fact sheet that describes the types of grant funds administered by OJJDP. Learn and Serve America Funds Learn and Serve America has made available approximately $3.2 million for school-based service-learning programs. Awards will be made through a national competition to organizations addressing homeland security concerns through active participation of students (age 5-17) engaged in service-learning activities in their schools and communities. Announcements The National Youth Court Center disbursed mini-grants to 59 youth court programs to assist them in organizing a project for National Youth Service Day on April 16-18, 2004. A list of mini-grant recipients is located on the NYCC website at http://www.youthcourt.net/NYSD_minigrant_recipients_2004.htm. Law Day The American Bar Association wants to hear about what you are planning to do for Law Day (May 1, 2004). If you provide them the information, they will give it national exposure through their website. Email Charlie White charliewhite@staff.abanet.org and let him now the name of your program, where it is located, who you hope to reach with your Law Day project, when it will happen, and what you plan to do. Also, provide him with information for a contact person including an email address.

Any adult age 21 and
older may nominate children who are 6-18 years old and have not yet
graduated high school by March 15, 2004. Scholarships are available for

Click here to see if you program is listed in the National Youth Court web listing and to make sure your contact information is correct. If not, you may be missing out on receiving new publications and resources reserved especially for active youth court programs!
Increase support for your youth court on a local level by keeping your local stakeholders informed of what is going on nationally in the youth court field. Print a copy of this issue and distribute it to your advisory committee members, board of directors, and youth volunteers.
