OJJDP’s Partnering to Prevent Truancy: A National Priority


Submit a proposal to be a presenter at Partnering to Prevent Truancy: A National Priority, a national conference to be hosted by OJJDP and the Department of Education on December 6–8, 2004, in Washington, DC.  Submissions are due Friday, September 10, 2004.
 
2004 Texas Teen Court Conference

November 2-5, 2004.  2004 Teen Court Association of Texas State Conference hosted by Fort Worth Teen Court will be held at the Clarion Hotel in downtown Fort Worth.  The conference will offer presentations, panel discussions, and round table discussions.  To download a registration brochure, click hereReservation deadline is September 24, 2004.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse’s New Web Site for Teens Promotes Understanding of Drug Abuse


“NIDA for Teens: The Science Behind Drug Abuse” is an interactive website for adolescents ages 11
through 15, as well as for their parents and teachers.  The site delivers science-based facts about how drugs affect the brain and body.  Animated illustrations, quizzes and games are used throughout the website to clarify concepts, test the visitor’s knowledge, and make learning fun.  Visit the site at http://teens.drugabuse.gov.


Help the National Youth Court Center Update its Database!

Everyone in the NYCC database will be receiving a Database Update Form in the mail within the next two weeks.  We request that you complete and return the form in the self-addressed, stamped envelope by September 30, 2004.   We need this information to assure our youth court listing and other contact information is accurate.

Sample Forms for Daily Program Operation


The NYCC has developed sample forms that local youth courts can download and customize.  Sample forms online include staff and volunteer job descriptions; a volunteer application; volunteer, respondent, and parent satisfaction surveys; and client case information sheet.  New forms will be added on an ongoing basis.  If you’d like to see a specific type of form added, please let the NYCC know.
