This seminar is designed for staff and others affiliated with active youth, teen, peer, or student court programs to provide them with more advanced training on youth court and related topics.

Funding Opportunities National Crime Prevention Council Grants The National Crime Prevention Council, a National & Global Youth Service Day National Partner, will award 100 grants of up to $500 through its Teens, Crime, and the Community initiative. The grants will support service-learning projects planned and implemented by youth who identify needs and create projects to address or prevent crime, violence, or drug abuse in their schools and communities. These grants are intended to encourage and promote crime prevention, community service, and civic responsibility. Application deadline is April 1st. FY 2006 Tribal Juvenile Accountability Discretionary Grant Program The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) will award Tribal Juvenile Accountability Discretionary Grant (JADG) Program grants to federally recognized American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop and implement programs that hold AI/AN youth accountable for their delinquent behavior and strengthen tribal juvenile justice systems. OJJDP has developed this program announcement to assist and guide federally recognized tribes as they prepare their applications for funding under the Tribal JADG program. Specific statutory authority for this program can be found at 42 U.S.C. Section 3796ee-1. This program, administered by Learn and Serve America at the Corporation for National and Community Service, provides Presidential recognition and a $1,000 college scholarship to high school juniors and seniors for their leadership in community service. Students must complete at least 100 hours of community service to be eligible for the scholarship. The postmark deadline to submit certification forms is May 12, 2006. www.inhalants.org The PACER organization recently unveiled a new anti-bullying interactive website that features lively animation, interactive games, and contests designed to educate kids in grades 2 through 6 about bullying and how to respond to prevent this widespread problem. Participate in National Youth Violence Prevention Week The National Youth Violence Prevention Campaign is a national initiative designed to raise awareness and to educate students, teachers, school administrators, counselors, school resource officers, school staff, parents, and the public on effective ways to prevent or reduce youth violence. Launched by National SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) and The Guidance Channel, this campaign is designed to demonstrate the positive role young people can have in making their schools and communities safer.
