Resources Street Law, Inc. has developed new lessons to provide youth court administrators with another option for helping to teach the young people in their courts about the effects of underage drinking. The lessons are geared to middle school and high school students. While they were developed to be used as sentencing options for respondents, the lessons also can be used to train youth court volunteers on these issues. Web Search: What do Our Laws and Policies Say About Underage Drinking? This lesson is web-based. Youth court administrators can assign youth respondents or volunteers to complete this lesson online using resources from the Internet. The online lesson guides youth as they conduct research on the Internet about laws relating to:
a) underage drinking and
alcohol-related driving, Reducing Underage Drinking: What do We Think Works? This lesson is designed as a highly interactive classroom lesson for youth to do together as a group. It was created as a supplemental lesson to the online lesson to help reinforce learning give youth a chance to share and apply what they learned in the online lesson. The group lesson also prompts students to personalize the problems of underage drinking and to evaluate programs designed to reduce underage drinking.
This lesson is being
incorporated into a revised version of Street Law for Youth
Courts: Educational Workshops that will be reprinted and posted on
the Internet this spring. However, for immediate access to this lesson,
you can download it at:
