Early bird registration $100: Deadline July 21, 2006 Late Registration $125: Deadline August 11, 2006 Broadcast Will Promote Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Youth in Custody On June 28, 2006, at 12:00 p.m. ET, the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Corrections (NIC) will air “Preventing Sexual Abuse of Children and Youth in Custody.” The 3-hour satellite/internet broadcast will introduce administrators, managers, advocates, and practitioners to working with juvenile offenders to the requirements of the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003. This is an opportunity to network and share effective and innovative program service approaches being implemented within the juvenile justice system throughout the country. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire “state of the art” training/education and other related information that will assist/enhance service delivery within their respective jurisdictions. Scholarships
and Awards The Bridgestone Firestone Safety Scholars Essay Contest is available to students aged 16 to 21 who are enrolled full-time in a secondary, college level, or trade school. You must submit an essay no more than 500 words relating to automobile safety. The essay should discuss effective ways to improve driver safety for drivers aged 16 to 21 and ideas on the best and most effective way to communicate to and educate drivers on the topic discussed. You must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible. Deadline is July 31, 2006. For more information visit www.safetyscholars.com .

The Louis R. Capelli
Foundation is a funding source designed to assist at-risk youth to reach
their full potential. Organizations with a 501 (c) 3 status are
eligible. Grant funding ranges from $5,000 up to $25,000.Application
deadline is June 30, 2006. For more information, visit
www.capelli-inc.com. Emma Dorrance, Barron County Teen Court and Matthew P. Nielsen, Vilas County Teen court are the 2006 recipients of the Wisconsin Teen Court Association, Inc. newly established scholarship award. Each won a $500 college scholarship. To be eligible an applicant must be a high school senior, a volunteer with a Wisconsin Teen Court for at least 1 year and plan to attend a two to four year post secondary school. Both youth and adult members of the Wisconsin Teen Court Association were called upon to evaluate and decide on the winners.
